Summer Sorrel

Price: $7.99

Sorrel is Christmas in Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, and half the Caribbean, hibiscus calyces steeped with ginger and spice, served cold, made in gallons because the whole family is coming. Summer Sorrel is that drink, made properly, made year-round.

Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is roselle — not the ornamental flower but the deep-red calyx around the seed pod, tart and cranberry-bright, grown across West Africa, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. Ginger is the second half of the tradition, sharp and warming. Cinnamon and cloves are the spices that make it read as celebration, cloves especially, which came from a handful of islands in Indonesia and once cost more than gold.

Cinnamon-infused raw honey doubles down. Sorrel is traditionally sweetened, often heavily; we use less, and let the cinnamon carry the perceived sweetness instead of sugar.

Caffeine-free. Brewed the way it's supposed to be, by someone who grew up drinking it.

Warm and spiced. Carries the sweetness so we don't have to add more of it.

Meet the Founder

Tea was always something I enjoyed making since a teen. What got me into creating a brand around iced tea was back in 2024 when my doctor diagnosed me with pre-diabetes. Then I came across the keto diet after hearing how much it helped to heal people but when I started going around my community for a simple meal or snack I realized where the problem stemmed from.

Frequently asked question

Not yet. Right now you can find us here and at pop-ups around Brooklyn — follow @herbalgenz for locations. We're working toward shelves, and the fastest way to get us there is people asking their local shop for us. If you own a store or know one that should carry us, get in touch.

Three of the six. Summer Sorrel, Trust Your Elders, and Sip and Slump have no caffeine at all — they're built entirely from herbs and flowers rather than tea leaves. The other three sit around 30mg per can, about a third of a coffee, and it's all naturally occurring.

Yes, enter your ZIP at checkout to see if you're in range. If you're outside the zone, everything ships through postal services.

Raw honey in every can which is equivalent to 7 grams of sugar, and that's all of it. No cane sugar, no high-fructose corn syrup, no artificial sweeteners. For comparison, most bottled iced teas run 25–35 grams and a lot of energy drinks are higher. Ours is lightly sweetened on purpose; the herbs are supposed to be the point.
